A free API key — no credit card — turns Gemini into a tool built for your job.
AI mode runs on your own API key. "API key" sounds technical, but all you do is press one button on Google's own page and copy the text it gives you.
It is a spare key that lets Gemini be called from your own Google account. Dropper borrows that key to ask the AI, on your behalf, to read the file you dropped.
The key stays yours. Dropper never holds it for you — it sits inside your browser only. You can regenerate it or throw it away on Google's side at any time.
AI tends to stop at being a tool you ask questions. With an API key it becomes a tool you hand the whole job to — from reading the sheet to registering the entries.
Schedule Dropper read 157 events from a single school year planner and registered them straight into Google Calendar. The work of pasting into a chat and retyping each line disappears entirely.
Name, date, venue and deadline come out field by field, so you can fix them on the spot before registering. That is what a purpose-built tool can do with the AI's brain, and the official chat cannot.
Your Google account comes with a free tier most people never touch. An API key is what unlocks it. There is no pay-per-use metering, so using it does not generate a charge. The AI you only asked questions before now reads your documents and registers the entries for you.
Getting an API key in Google AI Studio does not involve entering any payment details.
Dropper has no server. Here is exactly where your key goes.

Sign in with the Google account you normally use. You will not be asked for payment details here.
A string starting with "AIza…" appears. Copy it, paste it into Dropper's API key field, and you're done.
※ Keep your key to yourself. If someone does see it, delete that key in AI Studio and create a new one — the old key stops working.
